Description
TIVA, also known as Total Intravenous Anesthesia, is commonly employed in situations where the use of anesthetic gas is not necessary for induction. It is a technique used to maintain anesthesia solely through the intravenous administration of medications. By carefully titrating the infusion rates of these medications, the anesthesiologist can effectively control the depth of anesthesia throughout the surgical procedure. TIVA offers several advantages, including rapid onset and offset of anesthesia, reduced risk of adverse effects associated with inhaled anesthetics, and improved hemodynamic stability.
